Francis Hutcheson 8 August 1694-8 August 1746 was an Irish philosopher widely regarded as one of the key figures of the early Scottish Enlightenment. He served as Professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of Glasgow. 

This work was originally written by a Legum Doctor and philosophy professor named Francis Hutcheson. He was born in Ireland and was a professor at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. His work was catalytic for the development of the Scottish Enlightenment that influenced minds like Adam Smith, a father of modern economics, and David Hume, a philosopher. His writings were widely read in Britain and colonial America.  Scholars believe that this work is important enough to be preserved and generally available to the public.
